During the holiday season, it is common to wish others a “Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year.” I hope
each of you had a Merry Christmas. I do
hope you have a happy new year. But have
you ever stopped to think what it would take to have a happy new year? What will you do if trials and tribulations
come your way? Jesus tells us in John
16:33, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have
overcome the world.” Putting all your
faith and confidence in Jesus Christ will assure you of a happy new year. He will be there for you no matter what!!
I want us to try something different on Sunday evenings during the
winter months. We will have our evening
worship services at 5 pm. This will
allow our parents with children and youth time after church to get supper and
tie up loose ends for the school week as well as get the children to bed at a
reasonable hour. This will also allow
our senior adults, widows and widowers to get home just after dark. Please get the word out to others.
Please keep our Honduras Mission Team in your prayers. We are believing in
faith, that God is going to provide the finances we need to make this
trip. If you would like to give to this
trip, you can do it through the church by marking your offering envelope for
the Mission Trip.
Also, please pray for our youth as they will be at the Scott Dawson
“Strength to Stand” youth retreat in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on January
15-17. Ask God to speak to them and
encourage them in their daily walk with Him.
Also, ask God to strengthen Randy, Vicki and those who work with them.
Carol and I want to thank you for all the cards, gifts, food and
expressions of love you shared with us during the Christmas holidays. You sure made our Christmas a lot
brighter! We want you to know we love
you and are happy serving beside you for the Lord. Let us remain faithful and committed to the
Lord’s work here at Calvary First during 2011.
Because
He Lives, Roger
We look forward to seeing you at
church on
Sundays and
Wednesdays.

Here
we are once again at the beginning of a new year! Wow!
Isn’t God good to us? God is all
about new beginnings. Here we have one
once again. 2011. A brand new year! What’s it going to be like? Well, we can rest in the knowledge that God
is working out His purpose and plan in the good times and bad. I don’t know what 2011 holds in store but I
do know Who holds 2011. That’s really all that matters. We praise Him not because of our
circumstances but because of who He is.
He is the great I AM. He is the
God who speaks and things spring into existence from nothing. Talk about new beginnings. If He can do all that, then He can take care
of the things that concern me in my life.
In 2011 our prayer should be as the old hymn says “O for grace to trust
Him more”. I look forward to each time
we come together and worship the King of kings and Lord of lords and sing His
praises. I cannot wait to see what God
has in store for CFBC in 2011. Let’s
expect great things!

His Praises,

CHILDREN’S NEWS
Happy
New Year!! I am excited about serving
our Lord in 2011 and I hope you are too.
Let’s work at getting more people to heaven in 2011. Working together we can touch more people
than we can alone, so let’s get started.
Jesus told us that the greatest commandment is; “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all
thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy
strength: this is the first commandment.”
We are to always put our love for Jesus first. If we love Him with ALL our heart, soul,
mind, and strength it is easy to put Him first.
If you have not been loving Jesus with all your
heart, it is not too late. He has given
us another year to serve Him. Let’s make
it the best year ever. Let’s try our
best to help people get to heaven in 2011.
In January we will have the black light ministry team from City View
Baptist coming to perform for us. They
did a great job at our summer camp last year.
The date has not been finalized yet, but I will let you know when they
will be here. We will have a great
time!!!
Our children’s choir will begin working on our musical soon. If you want to be in the musical, you need to
be in children’s choir on Sunday evenings during the PM services. We will perform the next musical in May.
I hope you all have a very healthy, happy and blessed new year. Jesus loves you and so do I.
Joyful Servant,
Ms. Felicia

YOUTH NEWS
WOW!!! I keep telling people that it is fun going to
church where people want to be there and want to serve Jesus. That church is Calvary First. Many folks that don’t attend Calvary were in
our church last weekend as Scott got married.
Many came to me afterwards and said, “This church is beautiful and you
feel a sweet spirit here.” Folks, that
spirit is Jesus! We must get this word
outside the walls of our church. Will
you help spread the word? My prayers is
that as we enter 2011 we won’t be ashamed to share about our Savior and what He
is doing at Calvary. This can be done
with words, but also by our actions wherever we go and whatever we do. As I tell the youth, we may be the only Bible
someone reads. What message are you
sending? Forget about what someone may say
and do what Jesus says – LOVE, WORSHIP and SERVE not the world, but JESUS. May we truly “get it” in 2011. That is everything Jesus has to offer and in
return we will find ourselves giving more back to Him. We can give back to Jesus when we fall in love
with Him.
Thanks for loving me and my family.
